Saeed Ahmed, MD is a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist focused on providing leading edge care here in Wesley Chapel, FL. He has always been driven to concentrate on the patient’s well-being and he finds opportunities to participate in the most advanced medicine and training for evidence-based practice.

Dr. Ahmed graduated from Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan in 1989. He started in general medicine until he became the Resident Medical Officer located at the Civil Hospital Karachi until 1991. Later, Dr. Ahmed’s interest specifically in gastroenterology was developed during his tenure as a clinical and research assistant at Ziauddin Hospital.

Dr. Ahmed accepted a position at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois to pursue his residency in internal medicine in 1993. After successfully completing his residency, he was able to begin a Fellowship in Gastroenterology. He became proficient in diagnostic and therapeutic EGD’s, colonoscopies, ERCPs and Capsule Enteroscopy completing his fellowship in 1999.

This experience catapulted Dr. Ahmed into private practice starting in Colorado and eventually landing him here in Wesley Chapel, FL as he established his own private practice Digestive Disease Associates of Central Florida in 2011. Dr. Ahmed eventually joined Tampa Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery Center in 2014 and became a managing partner in 2015 until present.

He has been using state of the art technology with the Fuse Full Spectrum Endoscopes which allows 330-degree view of the colon. According to a study by the Lancet Oncology (hyperlink, this Fuse system allowed for less anesthesia and finding more polyps reducing the amount of missed polyps. Since Dr. Ahmed has always placed the patient first, he finds this technology allows him to give the patient the best outcome and peace of mind.
